Movie Reviews of Office Space

by Jonathan and Amanda Fashbaugh

Jonathan's Review   Amanda's Review

This ranks among my most favorite movies. It's a well-balanced mix of stupid humor and intelligent satire. Office Space points out that it's the little things in an office job that can drive you batty. It also hones in on those bizarre personalities that seem surreal and yet we're confronted with them every day.

A movie has met its goal when you can relate to its characters, and you can relate to the characters of Office Space if you've been in an office job for an extended period of time.

If you haven't seen Office Space, you've undoubtedly been exposed to quotes from the movie. You might as well rent, or better yet purchase Office Space and join in the fun.

"Why does it say paper jam when there is no paper jam!? One of these days, I just-"   "You're telling me, Man. The thing's just lucky I'm not armed."

This is truly a 5 star comedy.

The cover of this movie boasts “From Mike Judge, creator of Beavis and Butt-head.” This does not entice, endear or otherwise impress me. I watched it under duress, and I doubt I have ever laughed so hard in my life.

Since then, I discovered that Mike Judge is also responsible for Daria and King of the Hill, both of which show the wit and magnetism contained in Office Space. Beyond the humor implicit in any commentary on dead end jobs is the sweetness of friendship and new romance.

Plus, it makes hilarious use of hardcore gangster rap.

Every single character is both believable and enjoyable, even if your enjoyment is found in just hating them and all they represent. If you disregard this movie just because it’s by the creator of Beavis and Butt-head, you’re missing out on “The Mondays,” “Flair,” and “No talent A**Clowns.” (Which is far more enjoyable than you’d think!)
